Reports:

Britt Iannacone gave the Treasury Report. She explained that the proceeds from the Fall Festival and Sally Foster go straight to the teachers and classrooms. Remaining Funding request money from 2006 bought Projection Boards for classrooms. A motion to pass the treasurer’s report was made and seconded. All present approved the motion.

Debbie Holt gave the Volunteer Report. She noted that the “Fill the Bus” campaign was not as successful as last year. This was held at the Wal-Mart and K-Mart in Franklin and is a fundraiser targeting shoppers to help donate school supplies to schools in our area. Debbie asked volunteers to please sign in and out in the school office so that we get credit for the hours. She reminded everyone that we were collecting Box Tops and Campbell Soup labels again this year. Please bring them to the office and they will place them in the volunteer box for us. Gina Billingsley is handling the project. Classes with the most Box Tops would get a treat in January and Labels would have a pizza party in May. Debbie encouraged everyone to get involved any way possible and that it only helps our school and our kids.

Debbie Lassiter pointed out that Sally Foster and Fall Festival are so important and to try to promote and encourage these fundraisers to everyone.

Fran Parmelee explained the Sally Foster fundraiser. She expressed what great products they carry. On every dollar collected, 50 cents comes back to the school and that there is no need to collect sales tax. If you do receive cash please make sure that it is the correct amount. She explained how to order online. She also said that it is an easy and successful fundraiser.

Susan Coram reported on Grocery Cards and Ink Cartridges. You can sign up at Ingles and it can amount to a lot. Highlands School gets points to buy good equipment such as digital cameras, etc. Please fill out the form and return to the grocery store or return it to PTO and we will turn it in for you– it is worth having.

Please recycle ink cartridges. The school can make money from them– last year we made $1,000. Bring cartridges to school in the new cartridge box. This company will also pay for used electronics such as lap tops, DVD players and old video game equipment.

Andrea Chalker reported on the Fall Festival. The Fall Festival is our school’s largest fundraiser. This year Rotary will take over the Bingo and will give out cash rather than prizes. Thank you to the Rotary! You can be a sponsor $25 up to $500, with the sponsor recognized through the school, town and newspapers. If you see a sponsor say “Thank you”. Seniors take pride in and get excited to set up and run the festival. The Fall Festival proceeds will pay for their caps and gowns. Volunteers are needed to bake goods to sell and for the popular cake walk. A lot of volunteers are needed to work the festival to make it successful. Patty Wheeler is in charge of the Haunted House this year and we will also have two inflatables – one small bouncer for smaller children and a larger one for older kids. This year we will raffle the classroom theme boxes.

Brian Jetter came up for “Ask the Principal”. There were no questions. Principal Jetter reminded visitors to please sign in at the office and wear a visitor sticker.

Mandy Underwood did the Drawings. Alex Bronaugh won the $50 Savings Bond and Crystal Green won the Events Pass.

Susan Coram did the Classroom Count. Mrs. McClellan’s class won $50 for most parent participation.
